A short history of Herndon & Merry, Inc.
Herndon & Merry, Inc. was established in Nashville in 1959 by Bill Merry, Sr. and Cecil Herndon (both now deceased) as an ornamental iron fabricating business. Cecil Herndon retired in 1979, at which time Bill Merry, Sr. purchased his partner's interest in the business.
Since then the company has been operated by the Merry family, and today is headed by the sons of co-founder Bill Merry, Sr. and his wife, Moneta Merry, who has also been active in the business. Bill Merry, Jr., serves as President; Keith Merry directs the Garden Park Antiques division; and Kevin Merry is involved in all aspects of fabrication and hand-forging. All of them work in the business on a daily basis.
As the years have gone by, Herndon & Merry has transitioned from being a typical ornamental iron fabricator to one of the nation’s leading designers of architectural metalwork. Today, more than ever before, design expertise is at the heart of the company’s concept, as they design, produce and install custom entrance gates, stairway railings, balconies and many other architectural site furnishings.
Another important date in company history is April 1st, 1987, when Keith Merry officially opened Garden Park Antiques, now one of the premier architectural antiques showrooms in America and home to Keith’s unique furniture and accessories, designed around old architectural fragments and hand-crafted on the premises.
Nearly 50 years of experience goes into everything Herndon & Merry and Garden Park Antiques offer.
